At least, I hope 13 is a lucky number and that 3rd times a charm. My doctor retrieved 13 eggs today. That is the most I have ever had. But, I have to wait until late tomorrow morning to see how many were mature and how many fertilized.
I am SOOOO sore though. I have never been this sore. ugh! I am still planning on going to work tomorrow, but I don't expect to be moving around much.
I was told that my ovaries will be sore and I will be bloated for about a week (lucky me!). I know it is all for the greater good.
Tomorrow I start the PIO (progesterone in oil) shots. Those are intramusculare (aka - in the butt). Ouch!
I will update tomorrow when I have any knews. I hope it is good news!!!

My Journey
May/June 2006 - Started TTC
January 2007 - Went to my ob/gyn and ran some tests (one being the Clomid challenge).
Feb. 2007 - went to the RE (IVFNJ) due to what some of the results of all of our tests showed (MF)
Feb. 2007 - our first IUI with Clomid. BFN
March 2007 – IUI#2 with Clomid – BFN
April 2007 – IUI #3 – Follistim only – BFN
May 2007 – IUI #4 – Follistim + menopur – BFN
July 2007 – IVF#1 – Follistim + menopur, 7/13 – BFP, 7/16 – m/c
Aug. 2007 – IVF#2 – Follistim + larger dose of menopur, 9/14 - BFP, 9/17 – m/c
September 2007 – recurrent pregnancy loss panel (RPL)
November 2007 - RPL showed nothing. My RE suggested losing weight before doing anything and also suggested doing donor egg.
End of November 2007 - went to Cornell for a 2nd opinion. This doctor said not to do donor egg yet, but suggested another protocol. He also said that my weight had nothing to do with the 2 m/c or the lack of follicles. However, he did suggest losing weight b/c it could only help.
January 2008 - started acupuncture.
February 2008 - went to my doctor for a mini-consult. We are on our way!!
Mid-March 2008 - went for a Sonohysterogram and ordered my meds for IVF#3.
March 18, 2008 - started Estrodiol
March 25, 2008 - starting stimming (450iui Follistim + 2 menopur). Take Estrodiol for 2 more days.
March 29, 2008 - told we are cancelling b/c my estrogen level is dropping and if we are lucky we will do an IUI.
March 31, 2008 - go for a monitoring appt. and we have 8 follies.
April 2, 2008 - we have 9 follies.
April 4, 2008 - we have 11 follies and if all goes well, ER will be on Tuesday.
April 5, 2008 - we have 11 follies and we are told that ER will be on Monday, April 7.
April 7, 2008 - ER - 13 eggs retrieved.
April 8, 2008 - 8 fertilized.
April 10, 2008 - 7 embryos still growing. 4 transferred today.
April 21, 2008 - Beta #1 - 107 (increase PIO to 1-1/2 cc
April 23, 2008 - Beta #2 - 197 (progesterone 12) (increase progesterone to 2cc) and stop Estrace
April 25, 2008 - Beta #3 - 436 (add prometrium to the mix)
Abbreviations
- 2ww = 2 week wait (the time period you wait between ovulating (or your procedure) to the time you can go for your Beta
- AF = Aunt Flo (another name for menstruating)
- B/W = Blood Work
- Beta = pregnancy blood test (done at your doctor's office)
- BFN = Big Fat Negative (taken with a HPT)
- BFP = Big Fat Positive (taken with a HPT)
- ER = Egg Retrieval
- ET = Egg Transfer
- HPT = Home Pregnancy Test
- HSG = Hysterosalpingogram (when they put a special "dye" in your cervix to check for blockages in your fallopian tubes)
- IUI = Intra-uterine insemination (also joked about as using a turkey baster)
- IVF = In-Vitro Fertilization
- m/c = miscarriage
- MF = Male Factor
- Monitoring = going to the RE's office to check your estrogen and progesterone levels, as well as your ovaries and any follicles
- PIO = Progesterone in Oil (could be olive, sesame or cotton). Given intra-muscular (aka in the backside)
- RE = Reproductive Endocrinologist (fertility doctor)
- RPL = Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
- SA = Semen Analysis
- SHG = Sonohysterogram (when they put saline solution in your uterus and do an u/s to check for polyps/cysts)
- Stims or Stimming = Shots used to help stimulate your follices to produce eggs
- TTC = Trying to Conceive
- U/S = ultrasound (usually internal when monitoring)
